At the height of the harvest season, Nichole McGeehan, MPH, CHES, will demonstrate the fundamentals of home food preservation. She will explain the scientific reasoning behind today’s recommended methods for home food preservation, while dispelling food preservation myths and unsafe practices of the past. She will be assisted during the workshop by Master Food Preserver Mary Ann Curtis.
Nicole McGeehan is a Penn State Extension Educator with a degree in Community Healthy Education from The University of Scranton and a master’s degree in Public Health from East Stroudsburg University. Trained in Home Food Preservation, she also teaches retail and consumer food safety programs in Carbon, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Wayne, and Wyoming counties. Nicole is a certified ServSafe instructor and teaches “Cooking for Crowds: A Volunteers Guide to Safe Food Handling.”
