About Our Photographic and Archival Collections

Photographic Collection —  The museum’s photographic collection consists of more than 3000 analog and digital images from the mid-1800s through the 1900s. Subjects include farms, boardinghouses, families, children, villages, mills and factories, stores, churches, schools, and scenic views, among others.

Archival Collections—Primary resource materials include diaries, letters, ledgers and account books, meeting minutes, tax rolls, church and school records, voting records and membership lists.

Genealogy files — Comprising thousands individual names, the collection includes family trees, obituaries, newspaper articles, death certificates, and personal papers.

Scrapbooks — Family scrapbooks preserve newspaper clippings of local happenings and notable personalities.

School Records — The Society has documented the early one-room schools in our area and is also the repository for the yearbooks, photographs and ephemera from the Greene-Dreher School in Newfoundland and the Greene-Dreher Alumni Association.

Military Records — As part of the Veterans History Project, we have documented the military service of nearly 1000 veterans from Greene and Dreher Townships.

County Records—The archive includes county records of various types: births, marriages, deaths, taxes, voting rolls, census reports, and miscellaneous warrants and deeds.

Maps and Atlases — When conducting research, it is helpful to take a look at maps from the time period to better understand your topic. The maps in the collection cover Pike and Wayne Counties.
