Grave Matters: A History of Halloween

October 19, 2019, 3:00pm to 5:00pm - Peggy Bancroft Hall

After a great response last year, the Greene-Dreher Historical Society is offering a second program in the series, Grave Matters.  While many enjoy the fun and frights of Halloween, few seem to know its full history.

Ruth Altemier and Ellen Drake, the hosts, will trace the history of this holiday from its pagan beginnings through the Mid-20th Century. The presentation at the Peggy Bancroft Hall will be followed by a cemetery tour of  the historic Kipptown Cemetery. Registration is required by October 11. Call Ruth at 570-676-4354 or Ellen at 570-676-9816 (This second number will be dedicated to registration for this event. Call and leave message with name, number of attendees, and contact information, and you will receive a confirmation by phone, text, or email by your preference.) We can provide car pools to the cemetery. Contact Ruth at the above number if you will need a ride to Kipptown Cemetery.

This event is free and open to the public.
