Please join the Greene-Dreher Historical Society and Greene Township Board of Supervisors for a special program at Cykosky Park in Greentown to commemorate the 70th year of the Flood of 1955. The program will include remembrances by victims of this tragedy and the dedication of two newly-installed interpretive signs at the park: “Flood of 1955 – 70 Year Commemoration” and “Village of Greentown 1900 – 1930.”
A new edition of The Flood of 1955 Remembered — 70 Year Commemoration will be available for sale after the program. The book contains additional stories and photographs that were not in the 2015 edition, as well as color images of the new commemorative sign and pre- and post-flood maps of the villages of Newfoundland and Greentown.

The event will be held at Cykosky Park, Brink Hill Road, Greentown on Saturday, August 23 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. It is open to the public and light refreshments will follow the program. In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the Greene Township Office Building on Brink Hill Road.
