CCC Day at Promised Land State Park

August 8, 2026, 10:00am to 2:00pm - Masker Museum at Pickeral Point, Promised Land State Park
337th Co., Civilian Conservation Corps, Camp S 139 at Promised Land State Park, c. 1934

Join us for a day of celebrating local history and honoring the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corp at Promised Land State Park. Admission is free! The Greene-Dreher Historical Society will participate with a display that highlights park history and the local men who worked there in the 1930s. Masker Museum will be open with artifacts not normally on display to the visiting public, and demonstrations will be performed at the Blacksmith Shop using antique tools. The event includes living history tours, music, exhibits, and lectures at the Pavillion.

The Civilian Conservation Corps was created by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt at the height of the Great Depression to provide jobs and skills training for the young men who enrolled. The “CCC Boys” built many of the trails and structures at Promised Land that are still in use today, and they planted thousands of trees to make the park the beautiful recreation destination we enjoy today. CCC Day honors these young workers and the role they played in creating this and other state parks across Pennsylvania.

Cake and coffee will be offered throughout the day at no charge, and hot food will be available for purchase.
