Promised Land State Park is hosting a CCC and Local History Day event on Saturday, August 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Masker Museum complex. The focus of this event is to honor the men who worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) in the 1930s as well as to highlight the park’s colorful local history. Musical performances, swing dancing, a GPS Tour, blacksmith demonstrations and an F.D.R. Living History program are just a few activities featured. Cake and coffee will be offered at no charge. Admission to this event is free. Young men enrolled in the CCC worked to make many improvements at Promised Land State Park, some of which are visible and in use today. The CCC was a Depression-era federal program launched by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to provide jobs and skill training.
